Legit, No Investment Appointment Setting Jobs
I have written about numerous work from home scams and I often get job requests from people who don’t have websites and are not interested in taking paid surveys or freelancing. There’s still hope for you guys! There are legit data entry jobs (although hard to find) and there’s a few other options. This article is about working at home as an appointment setter.
Being a stay at home parent and earning a living is a unique opportunity that can be a great, profitable experience if you’re good at selling. There’s companies like Courtney Raymond that hire people like us to set up appointments for their affiliates who work with Merrill Lynch.
You know me, I am always amazingly skeptical of the “sounds too good to be true” opportunities, so I called them myself and spoke with Alan Baytes, the person in charge of hiring and training employees. I got a ton of information -
Courtney Raymond has a database filled with potential clients. They are always looking to hire anybody who has excellent phone skills to communicate with their leads and set up appointments. So basically you would be working as a telemarketer, but instead of getting an hourly pay you are paid by the appointments you are able to set ($100 each) plus a commission on the appointments that result in sales ($600 - $40,000 each). So if you are great at selling you have potential to make a six figure income. If you have poor phone skills and are generally not a great talker, this isn’t the position for you.
The cool thing is that to become an employee through a company like Courtney Raymond is that you have absolutely no expense. They will train you over the phone through conference call classes, where you will be able to interact with other people who also work for CR.
As an appointment setter, you are able to work your own hours, but expected to make between 50 – 70 calls per day. In order to access the database of names, all you need to do is log onto your computer and use your unique id to log into their site. After you log in your database will be right in front of you.
The only downside to this job is that you are a 1099 (taxed) employee and you are responsible for covering your own phone expenses. Now if you have a cell phone that has unlimited calls you’re not going to be losing a penny. However, if you are calling from a home phone that you have to pay for long distance calls, you will have to spend money to make money.
